WATERBURY, CT, 03/07/07- 030707BZ06-  John Staver, of Watertown, of Volunteers Income Tax Assistance (VITA), helps Gladys Passmore, of Waterbury, prepare her income tax returns at the Silas Bronson Library in Waterbury Wednesday afternoon.  According to the IRS Website, VITA volunteers are certified to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country.  The VITA program at the Silas Bronson Library is held between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday's.  Staver said an average of 25 people show up each week for the free help even though he is only able to service 10 to 12 daily. "One day I had 37 people lined up," he said.  In addition to VITA  the AARP also offers free tax preparation at the Library on Tuesday's and Wednesday's between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Both programs continue through April 11, 2007.<br />
