WOODBURY, CT-22 November 2012-112212BF04--FOR COUNTRY LIFE- Volunteer Susan Cheatham from Woodbury is dressed in late 17th century costume at the Hurd House as part of The Old Woodbury Historical Society Thanksgiving Day open house Thursday. Cheatham explained that the early settlers celebrated Harvest Festivals to give thanks and that they were very solemn events. The Hurd House (ca. 1680) is recognized as the oldest original house.
