TORRINGTON, CT- 29 April 2009- 042909KL02-- When Peter Kantor of Torrington saw a photo in Wednesday's Republican-American of Robert Blazek's 5.63-pound rainbow trout he caught in the Bantam River in Litchfield, Kantor promptly called a reporter to say he had something bigger. But this wasn't just some friendly fisherman competition: Kantor had caught a whopper of a rainbow trout in the Naugatuck River "just a stone's throw from downtown" Torrington. By the time he got it to Carbone's Market, the fish weighed in at 11 pounds, measured 27 inches long and 18 inches around -- the biggest Kantor's caught in Connecticut. "I think it's the biggest ever taken out of the Naugatuck," added Kantor, who used a 4-pound tippet and a three ounce rod to haul in the behomoth.
