SOUTHBURYCT.-30 OCTOBER 2010 102910DA05- Dr. Roger Shinn of Southbury served in the Army during WWII, from 1941 to 1945. A commander of Company C, 60th Armored Infantry, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge where he was captured by the Germans as a Prisoner of War (POW). For 171 days until the end of WWII, he was forced to march over 600 miles and experienced brutal interrogations as a POW. He is the author of a book, Wars & Rumors of War, which examines war and many other questions from the viewpoint of a combat veteran and theologian of note. In addition, Dr. Shinn is the author of over 20 other books, was a pacifist during the Vietnam War, and currently is a professor emeritus for Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, one of the premier theological institutions in the country.
