WATERBURY CT.-20 OCTOBER 2010 102010DA02-  Saint Mary Hospital in Waterbury received the Gold Performance Achievement Award for providing outstanding care to heart failure patients. This award signifies that Saint Mary's is following national quality guidelines established by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology for the care of heart failure patients, with the goal of preventing future hospitalizations. McCulley, RD, MPH, director, quality improvement initiatives, of the american red cross association, and Chad W. Wable, president and chief executive officer of St. Mary Hospital. In 2009 the hospital received the first and only Connecticut hospital to win the Gold Award for coronary artery disease and a Silver Award for heart failure treatment. This is the hospitals second gold award.<br />
