Southbury, CT-06 January 2013-010613CM03- Supporters eat breakfast during a fundraiser at the Southbury Volunteer Fireman's Association headquarters on Main Street Sunday morning in Southbury. Southbury firefighters held a pancake breakfast to support a scholarship fund for Sandy Hook. The proceeds from the breakfast will be donated to the "Sandy Hook School Support Fund" via the United Way of Western Connecticut in partnership with Newtown Savings Bank. The Breakfast included pancakes, sausage, bacon, juice and coffee. Volunteers from the department, Ladies Auxiliary and Jr Corp. served up the breakfast. The Ladies Auxiliary and the Jr. Corp. also held a bake sale of homemade breads, muffins, coffee cakes, cookies and desserts. Pancake breakfast event organizer and firefighter Sarah Palmer has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of local community support and cooperation for this fundraiser. Palmer said, "A huge thank you to those who have donated and those helping. We hope through this breakfast to raise what we can for our neighbors, family and friends in Sandy Hook." Palmer added they served approximately 600 people and raised $6,500 for Sandy Hook.
