The Broad Street Bridge in Seymour is still limited to pedestrian traffic although the State highway Department crews were busy Saturday getting the road surface to the ancient steel span ready for winter. Planning envisioned in the relocation of highways here would scrap the steel bridge and cut a new overpass from the foreground to the left side of the buildings on the far river bank. What to do with the flood-devastated Broad Street area is but one of the major items on the agenda of an important town meeting Thursday. Before the August 19th flood the Seymour Auto Co. and the Dutch Door Inn stood to the right of the new line of highway fence posts now being set along the roadway. The area was again torn up in the October 15th flood. 30 October 1955.
