WASHINGTON, CT -31 July 2004 - 073104TH13 - Bruce Reinholdt, curator of The Gunn Historical Museum, attempts to 'plug' or 'soak' a runner, during a game of Town Ball, the precursor to present day baseball, on the Washington Green Saturday afternoon. Outs are achieved by either catching a hit ball in the air before it hits the ground or by throwing the ball and hitting a runner, 'plugging' or 'soaking,' anywhere on their body. Todd Hougas photo.
