DANBURY, CT, 02/13/08- 021309BZ01- Beth Profeta, of Torrington, stands in front of a billboard on Route 37 in Danbury near the New Fairfield town line asking for information about her mother's disappearance. Mary Badaracco disappeared Aug. 20, 1984 from her home in Sherman. The state police, who are actively reinvestigating the case, say she was the victim of a homicide, though her body and her killer have not been found. The search for clues has turned to the public for help.
A $50,000 reward for information that would solve the mystery has been offered by the state. The cost of the billboard was paid by the CUE Center for Missing Persons in North Carolina, a nonprofit group which assists in the search for missing persons.
