WATERBURY, CT - 11 March 2010 - Republican-American publisher, William J. Pape II, center, shakes hands Wednesday with Joe Sullivan, right, chairman of the Waterbury Elks Club's House Committee, for the club's $1,000 contribution to the Greater Waterbury Campership Fund. At left is John O'Connor chairman of the club's Scholarship Committee. The Campership Fund annually gives hundreds of underprivileged boys and girls, ages 7 to 13 from a 10-community region, the opportunity to attend a day, overnight or special needs summer camp for at least a week where they learn useful life skills under the supervision of adults who double as fine role models. The Republican-American has sponsored the Campership Fund for 41 years. Other partners include Sovereign Bank, Webster Bank, WATR radio 1320 and the Thomaston Savings Bank. Donations are tax deductible and acknowledged weekly in The Sunday Republican. Contributions should be sent to Michael Mucciacciaro, treasurer, Greater Waterbury Campership Fund, c/o the Republican-American, P.O. Box 2090, Waterbury 06722.
