TORRINGTON, CT - 5 February, 2009 - 020509MO02 - Senior Robert Schapp, 17, center, was among nearly 100 Red Raiders who signed up to donate blood Thursday at Torrington High School. Schapp said he chose to donate to help people, and because "I don't need it all," adding that the free balloon is a nice perk. Red Cross officials said the school is among the more giving in the state when it comes to blood drives, which are scheduled here three times a year. Each pint of donated blood can help up to three people. Call 800-GIVE LIFE for details on upcoming blood drives in the area. Jim Moore Republican-American.
