Billy Baker, 6, right, of Torrington, and Daniel Layton, 8, of Winsted, try to catch snowflakes on their tongues during opening ceremonies outside the Christmas Village in Torrington on Sunday. The two were first in line, having had a relative hold their spot since 8:30 a.m. The Christmas Village is a 61-year tradition, featuring Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, an elves' workshop, Christmas carols, a nativity scene, and animals. The village is free, but long lines are common. <br />
