KENT, CT – 09 February 2014 - 020914LMW01 – Kent Historical Society Executive Director Marge Smith led a hike through the snowy trail at the historic Kent Furnace next to the Eric Sloane Museum Saturday afternoon. She pointed out areas that were used in the eighteenth and nineteenth century during the production of iron, which was the town’s main industry for over a century. The hike was in conjunction with a program co-sponsored with the Kent Memorial Library on ‘Vanished Jobs in Connecticut’ and part of a state-wide exhibit ‘Connecticut at Work’ that is showcasing the history of labor this year.
