WINSTED, CT - 23 September, 2008 - 092308MO04 - Scott Cunningham, 17 (right) and Lucas Lampognana, 16, both of New Hartford, stopped by the Winsted Skate Park Tuesday afternoon and found it locked up tight. "We're just looking for something to do," Cunningham said. The park has been closed since June 25 due to ramp damage. Town Manager Keith J. Robbins announced Tuesday the park is "95 percent open," prompting Lampognana to comment, "That's a tad bit ridiculous." Recreation Director Joe Nichols said he has done much of the repair work himself and taxpayers saved up to $5,000 by having Nichols and other town staff repair the ramps with minimal assistance from a vendor. The park repairs cost about $3,000, Nichols said, and he plans to open the park to the public as early as today. Jim Moore Republican-American.
