Torrington, CT- 27 March 2013-032713CM05-  Floyd Barto, left, of Torrington and a Army Veteran, files a claim for disability compensation at the Torrington Armory Wednesday afternoon.  Helping him is Simone Conforto, Homeless Coordinator with the Hartford Regional Office for the Veterans Benefit Administration.  Around 300 veterans visited the armory on Wednesday during "Stand Down 2013", which was sponsored by the Torrington chapter of FISH (Friends in Service to Humanity). The event provided free services and helpful information from state and federal agencies, as well as local businesses and organizations.  Three barber chairs were set up to give free hair cuts and lunch was also served said Deirdre DiCara, executive Director at FISH.  Stand Down is where homeless veterans and those in need, receive help and the services they need all in one place.     Christopher Massa Republican-American
