Thomaston, CT- 27 January 2014-012714CM04- Nathan Kowalski, 8, of Thomaston, contemplates a move as opponent Salvatore Treglia, 11, of Thomaston moves a piece during a chess class at the Thomaston Library on Monday.  The class was put on by chess instructor, Alexander Lumelsky, who was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and has been playing chess since the age of 4.  Now residing in West Hartford, Lumelsky, is the coach of Bugbee Elementary School chess team in West Hartford.  Lumelsky was teaching the kids opening ideas, which he said would help their opening moves be more effective.     Christopher Massa Republican-American
