WINSTED, CT- 23 March 2015-032315CM02-  Eleanor Oakes-Rogers,12 and a student at The Gilbert School, spells a word during a spelling bee which was held in the Roberta Ohotnicky Theater at Northwestern Regional High School in Winsted on Monday. Jill Keegan, 13, and a student at Northwestern Middle School Keegan won the event after spelling "wunderkind" (phonetically spelled vun-der-kint) correctly, which according to Merriam-Webster means, "someone who achieves success or shows great talent at a young age", won her first place at the event.  Students from Northwestern Middle School, The Gilbert School, and St. Anthony's School competed in the inaugural  event which was sponsored by Northwestern Community Bank and the Republican-American. Keegan received a 100 dollar gift card to Barnes and Noble. Second prize went to Oakes-Rogers, who received a 50 dollar gift card to Barnes and Noble.  Christopher Massa Republican-American
